The healthy growth of the IP telephony solutions market will continue over the next few years, IBISWorld has said.

Recent research from market intelligence company In-Stat showed that the penetration of VoIP phones among US businesses will reach 79 per cent by 2013.

George Van Horn, senior analyst at industry market research company IBISWorld, said that the growth of the VoIP market is expected to "stay strong" in the near future.

The expansion of the VoIP market seen over the last few years will be sustained by technological innovations and consumer awareness, according to Mr Van Horn.

He identified enhanced call quality, increased broadband access and the rising profile of the technology's benefits as the drivers for the market over the next few years.

Mr Van Horn added that though he believes it is "unlikely" that VoIP will replace traditional landlines over the next ten years, the VoIP market's growth will "certainly be higher".

VoIP was the best performing industry of the last decade, according to figures from IBISWorld.

The firm predicted that the VoIP solutions industry, having thrived over the past ten years, will continue its run through to 2019.
