France increases mobile VoIPPosted 5 months 2 weeks ago in: General VoIP ![]() Telappliant News: 2010-02-09 Rate this article: The range of VoIP solutions on offer in France are expected to broaden, as Mobile VoIP is expected to come to France over the coming year, TMCnet.com reports. Many of the major operators, such as Orange, are understood to be readying themselves for a large-scale VoIP deployment. Customers are likely to be allowed to use third-party VoIP platforms from the outset, such as Skype, offering consumers a large array of choice along with an enhanced service. Mobile VoIP allows users to make telephone calls on the go from their mobile phones. The cheap cost of VoIP means that their calls are significantly cheaper and, in the case of VoIP-to-VoIP calling, can be so cheap as to be essentially free. Currently there is a period of consultation on the issue occurring in France between the French telecommunications regulator Arcep and a number of mobile operators, ISPs and "internet giants". Guidelines will be published in June. With the possibility of France gaining mobile VoIP, companies have a wider range of mobile VoIP solutions to deploy when doing business abroad.
