VoIP solutions are now available on the iPhone - Apple's ultra-popular product, which spawned the recent iPad.

Google has introduced iPhone functionality into its Google Voice product, allowing users in both the enterprise and consumer space to use VoIP on the popular smartphone.

All second-generation and onwards iPhones are 3G capable, meaning that it is more than likely that users will have access to the necessary bandwidth required to successfully communicate using VoIP.

Apple's recent earnings announcement showed that iPhone sales have enjoyed a 100 per cent year-on-year rise and in Q1 2010 Apple reported that 8.7 million iPhone's had been sold - up 17.6 per cent from the 7.4 million sold in the previous quarter.

Google Voice, however, was not available as a download application for the device due to a veto by Apple. It, like its other incarnations on models running a Palm, Windows or Nokia operating system, must be accessed via a web-only link, though hotlinks can be added to the iPhone's home screen.
