Providing remote workers with mobileVoIP solutions could help them remain flexible members of a company's workforce, according to an IT services provider.

Howard Spink, UK director for Dimension Data, said many businesses could benefit from having a team of remote workers and that failing to invest in VoIP hardware could alienate companies from potential customers by lacking flexibility and cost-effective technology.

He said having a well-equipped remote workforce could help businesses to employ more expert employees, in addition to benefitting from the advantages of VoIP solutions.

Mr Spink said: "Not implementing [Vo]IP now is probably one short cut to making yourself unattractive to customers. Failing to implement it in a contact centre will make businesses uncompetitive on costs."

Nearly 40 per cent of adults in the UK who have downloaded a VoIP solution for use on their mobile phone use the technology to save money on international phone calls, according to a study from YouGov commissioned by Kineto Wireless.

In addition, nearly 20 per cent use them to make cheap calls while overseas.
