Facebook to have VoIP app?

Developed by software firm Vivox, the application will allow users to have clear conversations with their Facebook friends via the site.

According to industry news site Techradar.com, the social media site is already considering how it can capitalise on the hosted telephony service, such as by adding adverts to the phone calls.

In a statement about the new service, a spokesperson for Vivox said: "Users can have virtual reunions, play games or conduct meetings.

"Vivox Web Voice for Facebook is designed to provide a simple way to get a group talking. In addition to the core app, Vivox is working with developers to integrate custom voice capabilities into their applications."
