The majority of existing broadband customers would not switch internet service providers (ISPs) even if they saved money as a result, according to a comparison website.

Nearly 70 per cent of web users do not want a bundled package - involving buying services such as home phone and broadband access from the same company for a reduced rate - or are simply content with their supplier, while ten per cent do not want to deal with the fuss of switching, reveals Moneysupermarket.com.

Consumers could save hundreds every year by opting for one of the leading bundle packages and having the more effective use of VoIP solutions through fast connection speeds.

Ian Williams, communications director at moneysupermarket.com, said: "Our research has shown that those who had switched services in the last 12 months had saved almost £200 over that time - this makes a huge difference to the household wallet."

Average monthly costs of broadband connectivity have fallen by 40 per cent in the last four years since local loop unbundling (LLU) systems started being used.
