Businesses have been advised to take advantage of cloud servers, as they offer firms "additional agility" in their enterprising activities.

ThinkGrid, which provides enterprise class IT to small and medium businesses, made the claim adding that such facilities can save firms - including those who use VoIP solutions, money and improve the service they offer to clients.

David Pratt, chief executive officer at ThinkGrid, said: "Small business can get best of both worlds.

"Moving to a cloud storage service, means that they just pay for what they use, so they're never going to fill up their cloud storage, they pay as they go."

He added that it will particularly benefit businesses with home workers or operating from a domestic base as it gives all remote employees access to company information.

A survey conducted by online software firm Gooroo earlier this year found that by the end of 2010 54 per cent of all small businesses will be using cloud computing solutions.
