People choosing to buy broadband bundles could use VoIP hardware and other web applications for £30 less each month, reports the Sun.

Getting hold of a bundle package that includes broadband, television and a landline phone from a single provider, rather than buying each one separately, could result in substantial savings, figures from comparison website simplifydigital.co.uk have revealed.

Despite this, nearly 80 per cent of consumers have stayed with the same providers over the past year and around 30 per cent have failed to check what deals are available over the same period.

Charlie Ponsonby, chief executive officer of the website, told the paper: "On average, our customers save £360 a year by bundling digital TV, broadband and phone services from a single provider. We strongly recommend that all our customers consider a bundle deal before taking the plunge."

The sheer number of deals available puts many people off making the decision to switch, despite the financial pressures brought on by the recession.

Every home in the UK will have access to a connection of at least two megabits per second by 2012, according to new government targets.
