Customers could have the opportunity to use VoIP hardware and other applications through mobilebroadband on laptops for less than a cappuccino a week with current offers.

Several internet service providers (ISPs) are now offering impressive deals and many people who would not otherwise be able to afford a laptop could get hold of high quality devices on which to run VoIP applications for less than the cost of a cappuccino a week, reports Top 10 Broadband.

As ISPs compete to offer customers the best deals, the laptop is becoming much more widely available and is beginning to lose its image as only being attainable for more affluent individuals.

Jessica McArdle, marketing manager at Top 10 Broadband, said: "With cheap laptop deals proliferating by the hour, the days of a laptop being thought of as a luxury purchase are long gone. Combining the purchase of a laptop with a mobilebroadband connection can offer astonishing value."

Meanwhile, research from Epitiro has revealed that 0.9 megabits per second is the average UK speed of mobilebroadband connections, according to thinkbroadband.com.
