New technology has been released to help provide feedback on the quality of service on offer from a variety of VoIP solutions, reports VoIP News.

Version 2.0 of SQmediator from software firm Telchemy has been designed for use with medium-sized and large providers of VoIP hardware and works by sending data to the companies to help pinpoint any technical problems.

Up to half a million IP telephony deployments can be monitored at any one time, while up to ten million users of Residential VoIP services and Hosted PBX can be looked at.

In addition, the information provided is presented in a straightforward way, meaning staff do not need specialist training to be made aware of the problem.

The new software includes automatic correction for different time zones, email alerts, scalable distributed architecture and automatic verification of data sent from VoIP endpoints.

In other VoIP news, Avanti Communications has been awarded funding to conduct more research into a satellite system that could help address broadband connectivity issues in rural areas.
