Businesses in the UK are increasingly favouring VoIP hardware over more traditional telephony systems, according to accountingweb.co.uk.

Steve Gerrard, UK marketing manager for communications solutions at electronics giant Panasonic, said that more businesses are attracted by the array of features offered by VoIP solutions, as well as the fact that it is often more cost-effective.

Although the technology is proving more popular, many companies are driven primarily by the cost and are failing to take into account the other advantages offered by VoIP solutions.

Mr Gerrard told the website: "Although there is a large acceptance of IP and unified communications within the market, there are still end users out there who focus purely on the cost of a new system, as opposed to the technological advances and business benefits it can offer."

In related news, Thai Airways in Sweden recently announced plans to use VoIP solutions in its planes in order to rise above the competition in relation to onboard communications.
