Mobile VoIP brings enhanced functionality

Mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) offers various cost-cutting benefits as well as enhanced functionalities, an expert suggests.

According to independent VoIP comparison website LowCostMob.com, many users switch to mobile VoIP due to its affordability, but it also offers various important features.

Alan Paton, research director for the website, told VoIP-biz-news.com that services such as instant messaging and social networking are now being incorporated into mobile VoIP.

Mr Paton pointed out that cellular networks now reach 100 per cent of the UK population, but there is still room for the industry to grow.

He stated his belief that mobile VoIP is helping the industry move in new directions, including the introduction of innovative new media services.

"Cheap calls may be just one, and not necessarily the most important, of a rich range of features and new mobile services," he said.

In related news, a report published by the Gerson Lehrman Group has claimed the growing demand for VoIP services from consumers and businesses will result in many more people making cheap or free calls over their mobile phones.
