Paranet offers VoIP security threats protection device

Data centre and managed service provider Paranet Solutions has launched a new security package aimed at the VoIP market.

Paranet points out that the convergence of voice and data networks ensures significant costs savings for users but can also bring inherent security threats.

The firm's VoIP Security Service is able to identify and prevent a variety of threats, including illegal reconnaissance, malicious service disruption, eavesdropping, theft, spam, VoIP-to-data-exploits and quality degradation.

Tom Kearns, Paranet principle of risk management and security, said that every business utilising VoIP telephony should have a "rigid security program for it in place".

"They need to be sure their organisation is protected against all the VoIP vulnerabilities that exist now and in the future," he explained.

"Comprehensive security for VoIP and unified communications means that organisations must analyse their security readiness on an ongoing basis."

Light Reading's VOIP Services Insider recently advised VoIP providers to be aware of previous security threats which have affected the data world as their industry grows.
