Mobile VoIP is set to become an increasingly attractive proposition for business customers during 2009, a leading expert claims.

Bruce Chatterley, president of US telecoms provider Speakeasy, told TMC.net: "The next big thing is mobility and voice mobility combined with fixed [lines]."

"We are working on a whole variety of things, including VoIP on an iPhone," he added.

Despite the fact that full mobile integration is still a fair way off for most businesses, Mr Chatterley believes that it will take hold eventually.

"Businesses will be reluctant to go mobile-only, but it adds convenience," he explained. "We will start with 3G and 4G connections, [and] then add VoIP and then mobile voice."

Telecoms expert Jon Arnold recently said on Searchvoip.com that the market is "not quite ready" to embrace mobileVoIP services.

However, he predicted that mobile phone calls made using WiFi connections are likely to grow significantly over the year.
