The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) has launched a programme to target broadband blackspots around the UK.

According to BT figures, ADSL broadband now covers around 99 per cent of all homes and businesses in Great Britain.

By working with British Telecom (BT), the CLA hopes to identify the remaining areas of broadband unavailability in the county and then develop possible short-term solutions.

Charles Trotman, the organisation's head of rural business development, said that they still receive inquiries from members who are "frustrated they cannot take advantage of these services because they live in remote rural areas".

Therefore, the CLA is attempting to tackle any broadband availability issues by working with BT to gauge the extent of the problem and which areas are worst affected.

Mr Trotman advised anyone who is struggling to obtain a "standard ADSL service" but wants an affordable broadband connection to contact the CLA directly.

He added that "once armed with this information, the CLA will do everything in its power to find a solution with BT".
