A new coffee table multimedia unit has been launched by technology firm iRiver which features VoIP call functionality.

Officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the iRiver Wave Home is designed to offer a wide variety of multimedia features.

Using a Linux-based computer, the unit can play music and video, as well as display photos on its seven inch TFT-LCD screen.

Shaped like an A-frame, the device also has a phone function on the back which enables users to make VoIP calls.

This includes capacity to conduct voice and video conferencing using the touch screen and 2.5W speaker.

As a multi-functional unit, the Wave Home also has 1GB of flash memory, a 1.3 megapixel camera, an SD Card slot and a USB and Ethernet port.

Available first in South Korea, there are plans to release the unit in other parts of the world over the next six months.

Running from January 8th to 11th, CES 2009 featured the latest electronic technology and products from companies all around the world.
