Businesses using VoIP solutions will be able to test their system while on the move, following the release of a new hand-held VoIP tester.

The Trend Unipro VoIP is the "first low-cost, hand-held, wired and wireless VoIP tester", according to the firm behind it, Trend Communications.

According to the firm, it saw a gap in the market created by the fact that VoIP solutions are becoming increasingly popular in business but there have not been any dedicated field performance testers.

The Trend Unipro VoIP can work with both Ethernet and Wi-Fi interfaces and can quantify the quality of both voice and data transmission.

"Unipro VoIP is set to be the industry standard for VoIP installation and field maintenance," claimed Ken Foan, global sales and marketing director at Trend.

He added that he was "justifiably confident that VoIP testing will be another great success for the company".

In December, LiveVox also attempted to get into the VoIP testing market, by releasing its RPC Cost Optimiser.

The tool can be used to manage the costs involved in a telephony marketing campaign conducted from a VoIP call centre.
