A report in TMCnet.com revealed that many firms are using the wireless technology to achieve "astoundingly cheaper rates" than they had been used to with "lower technology" mobiles.

Additionally, even when compared with a fixed-line PSTN service, the infrastructure necessary for mobileVoIP phones requires little extra outlay in terms of maintenance.

However, the article revealed that it is not only the cost-saving benefits of VoIP that should be considered - there is a quality issue too.

Where businesses have offices that have basement floors or are isolated from mobile phone coverage, VoIP mobiles provide a superior service.

"While traditional tower technology is more often patchy, mobile VoIP calls have been far reliable and provide first rate networking coverage enabling people to keep in touch and in stay connected," the news provider said.

According to broadband comparison site SeekBroadband.com, many people who use mobilebroadband were looking at pay-as-you-go deals at Christmas in an effort to control costs.
