Echo cancellation solution for VoIP

Businesses using and selling VoIP solutions could have their call quality boosted by new software, according to the company behind the solution.

LSI has released an echo cancellation (ECAN) program for its StarPro range of multicore media processors.

The firm said that top-quality ECAN is vital for VoIP solutions, as well as both wireline and wireless services.

"With the rapid growth of VoIP, the need for cost-effective carrier-grade solutions to enhance voice quality [is] of paramount importance," said Charlie Kawwas, vice president of marketing at LSI's networking components group.

"Our customers are using LSI ECAN, codec and DSP technologies to build the industry's highest-performing media gateways now."

The company also claimed that its ECAN software exceeds the ITU-G.168-2004 industry standard.

Infrastructure teams in charge of VoIP solutions were also boosted earlier in December following the addition of new functionality to ClearSight's Network Time Machine VoIP analyser.

The solution is now able to support network time protocol servers.
