VoIP predictions for 2009Posted 1 year 7 months ago in: General VoIP ![]() Telappliant News: 2008-12-18 Rate this article: Execution will be the order of the day in 2009's VoIP market, rather than innovation, it has been claimed. According to Steve Taylor, president of Distributed Networking Associates, and Larry Hettick, principal analyst at Current Analysis, this is just one of the things that will happen in the sector next year. Writing on Network World, they gave their top ten predictions for the 12 months ahead - but warned that "our perspectives come with less optimism than we normally project" due to the uncertain economic outlook. Top of the list was the execution claim, which will see infrastructure providers "striving for operational excellence critical in tough times". They added: "We expect to see more focus on delivering what has already been promised than on promising what might be delivered." The two also expect growth in the sector to come mainly from the small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) market and that video over IP will become more popular. Earlier this month, the telecoms industry in general was predicted to not only survive the downturn, but potentially benefit from it. Sharifah Amirah from Frost & Sullivan pointed to the fact that the government intended to increase public spending on digital infrastructure.
