Businesses which use the Network Time Machine (NTM) for analysing their VoIP solutions will now be able to benefit from some new functionality.

The device is a turnkey recorder which can sift through terabytes of data on a network, allowing examination of the traffic to take place.

Now, developer ClearSight has announced that it will be able to support network time protocol (NTP) servers.

This deals with a problem where different internal clocks on the network would not be in synch with each other, which would make analysis difficult.

"One way we have addressed this timing issue is in our new release of our NTM software which supports NTP servers," ClearSight vice president of marketing Steve Wong told TMCnet.com.

"Now, using NTP, all of your NTM probes can be synched-up and correlated and you'll be able to do multi-segment analysis in a much more effective way."

Last month, MetroScope Ethernet analyser developer Fluke Networks announced that the tool was now able to be used for analysis VoIP solutions.
