Vodafone has been in trouble with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) after a complaint about one of their adverts was upheld.

The radio advert, for a phone and mobile broadband package, featured a woman who read out the terms and conditions at the end - incomprehensibly fast, the ASA decided.

It was ruled that "the important terms and conditions were not clearly audible and the ad could mislead listeners".

However, there was no formal penalty for Vodafone, but the company was ordered not to broadcast the advert again.

According to PC Pro, the terms and conditions should have read: "Subject to status, availability and connection to 18-month contract. Unlimited calls to landlines or Vodafone mobiles only. Fair-use policy, terms and 60-minute call cap applies."

Another advert by a broadband provider, T-Mobile, came under scrutiny by the ASA recently after a complaint by BT and a member of the public.

It mentioned a 3GB fair-use policy, where there were no extra charges for exceeding the limit, but the complaint said there would be charges.

However, the ASA did not uphold the complaints as T-Mobile explained that those exceeding the 3GB limit would just see their speed slowed temporarily.
