The category of Best Short Contract Broadband at the Top 10 Broadband awards has been won by AOL.

AOL was up against companies like Plusnet and Be Broadband but won through in the awards ceremony, organised by the independent broadband comparison site Top 10 Broadband.

The company's shorter length "Flexi" packages came in for particular praise by the judges, with factors like cost, speed, download allowance and quality service all looked at on top of length.

AOL Broadband's director of marketing, Vishal Khakhar, said: "We are delighted to have won this award and very pleased that the nation's favourite broadband comparison website has named us as a winner.

"We have always worked hard to provide contracts to suit everyone and we believe that our short-term contracts are particularly useful for those who want to try broadband or who do not know their long term plans."

Top 10 Broadband's web editor, Jessica McArdle, commented that AOL's short-term packages proved that "you don't have to pay over the odds for flexibility in your broadband package", and added that such a deal was useful for people like students or those in temporary accommodation.
