Telecoms moving towards NGNsPosted 2 years 1 week ago in: Telephony technology ![]() Telappliant News: 2008-08-22 Rate this article: Telecom providers are taking advantage of the cost savings inherent in IP-centric architectures by rolling out next-generation networks (NGNs), according to an analyst firm. Frost & Sullivan said that the roll out of next-generation services, which can provide advanced user experiences, was being driven by network, device and media convergence. In turn, companies are deploying NGNs in order to deliver these enhances services, such as IPTV and fixed-mobile convergence. But Frost & Sullivan warned businesses that they should take their time before utilising NGNs. The company's director of ICT consulting, Jayesh Easwaramony, said that although an NGN deployment was a step in the right direction for both incumbent and integrated telecom companies, "there are still multiple issues". "There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to transformation initiatives and each operator has to define his vision of his next generation and accordingly shape his business and network strategy," he added. Executive MindXchange, a summit on next-generation telecoms, will be hosted by Frost & Sullivan on August 28th and 29th at the Raffles City Convention Centre in Singapore.
