Business IT is 'transforming'Posted 3 years 6 months ago in: General VoIP ![]() Telappliant News: 2008-08-08 Rate this article: A majority of businesses believe that they must transform their IT operations in order to ensure better services, according to a study. Companies of all sizes located all over the world are attempting to improve the way they view IT, the research by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) found. The days where IT and business operated separately are on their way out, with a new model emerging where the two sectors' processes converge. Decentralised IT and the increasing accountability for IT projects of those in the business side of a company are cited as examples. "Many IT departments around the world are rethinking how they deliver services to the business and this underscores IT's critical importance to overall business strategy," said Debra D'Agostino, EIU senior technology editor. Change is happening now, with 27 per cent of the enterprises surveyed were in the process of a transformation, another 27 per cent had just completed one and 30 per cent were considering one. The changes appear to have support from employees too, with 42 per cent saying they understand how IT transformation could benefit and 28 per cent actually advocating the changes themselves.
