Telchemy has announced that more than 100 companies - many of them VoIP hardware producers - have integrated their VQmon software.

The company has so far shipped 30 million units of the software, and it also has around 100 million shipments to companies who use VQmon on subscription.

VQmon products can be integrated into both software and hardware platforms to produce real-time quality of experience metrics.

The product family includes software to measure the performance of VoIP phones and analyse VoIP traffic.

As the number of companies utilising VoIP solutions increases, a report in the New York Law Journal has given advice to how to plan a switchover to VoIP.

The report, by Michael Cukor and Thomas R DeSimone, has several recommendations including to decide whether to back up VoIP data differently to other data, which may have several advantages.

This new process of storing data should also be clearly addressed in documented policies, to make sure that VoIP data is dealt with correctly and not lost.
