VoIP adoption 'increasing significantly'

Voice over internet protocol (VoIP) is rapidly becoming a vital part of the business landscape, according to a new article.

TMCnet reports this week that greater levels of productivity and mobility that VoIP solutions provide mean that there has bee a "significant increase" in the number of companies looking to take advantage of the new technology.

It is reported that two other reasons that businesses would benefit from adopting hosted telephony is the ability to consolidate their technological infrastructure as well as reduce their day-to-day operative costs.

The site goes on to suggest that replacing old systems with IP PBX software can mean better end-to-end billing and network management solutions and recommends managed VoIP solutions.

"In this context, it can be said that the managed VoIP services have emerged as the new way through which the organisations and institutions are making the all important switch," the site concludes.

Recent studies from Extreme Networks and Data Integration found that 88 per cent of UK VoIP business users were happy with the technology.
