US-based VoIP hardware manufacturer Ascalade has announced a deal with an unnamed service provider which will see its Companion Simple VoIP phones come to Europe.

Ascalade has worked to configure the VoIP provider's application to sync seamlessly with the handset without needing a separate piece of internet communications software.

Simply by plugging in the phone to a USB port, users will be able to make calls over the net.

"We are excited to be working with our customer on offering their
subscribers value-added features that make VoIP calling as user-friendly as
possible," said Peter Sharp, director of sales and marketing for Ascalade Europe.

"We will continue to partner with our customers on new ways to bring the
benefits of VoIP calling to their end users."

The Companion Simple phone is aimed at replacing VoIP headsets with a handset that callers may be more comfortable with using.

It features 32KHz audio processing for high quality sound, as well as support for Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP.

Shipments of the handset to Europe have already begun and they will soon be available under Ascalade's customer's brand name to subscribers to their service.
