VoIP equipment revenue dip is 'no cause for alarm'Posted 4 years 7 months ago in: VoIP Hardware ![]() Telappliant News: 2007-06-18 Rate this article: Revenues for VoIP equipment suppliers dipped 8 per cent in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the previous four months, according to new research. But the author of the report by Infonetics Research suggested that the change was nothing for the industry to be concerned about. "This is a seasonal effect more than anything else," Stephane Teral, principal analyst at Infonetics, told Telecommunications Magazine. "A lot of people expected that the first quarter wouldn't be that great. The fourth quarter was very robust so we expected some kind of slowdown." Infonetics reported that the general trend for VoIP equipment remains increasing year-on-year revenues, with growth currently at 14 per cent as more companies sign up to internet-based communications services. Mr Teral said: "To me it looks like we're on the right path. It was actually good to cool off a bit during the first quarter." He added that in his view future growth will focus on next-generation VoIP equipment that will see better voice quality and improved connection reliability.
