O2 come top of broadband pile

O2 has won a number of broadband awards, including providing the fastest service and delivering the best customer satisfaction.

The awards were from Top 10 Broadband, a broadband comparison website.

BT came top in the wireless broadband category, while 3 was seen to be the best mobile broadband provider.

Over 310,000 speed tests carried out on the Top 10 Broadband website were analysed by the Top 10 Broadband team to pick the winners, and broadband packages were tested against a large number of criteria for the different awards.

"The winners of the Top 10 Broadband awards have distinguished themselves in the UK broadband market by offering first-class packages tailored to niche areas of the market," said, Top10-Broadband.co.uk web editor, Jessica McArdle.

O2 was deemed the fastest broadband with an average download speed of 6.128mbps while its customer satisfaction rating was 3.84 out of 5, the best of the bunch.

BT won the wireless broadband award because its BT Home Hub 2.0 wireless router doubles the reach of most other routers and can support digital TV, while 3 won the mobile broadband category due to its range of packages.
