Aastra softphone offers alternative to VoIP phonesAastra have released a new softphone which is specifically designed for SMBs and can be used instead of VoIP phones. Workers who are out of the office and have access to the internet can be reached on their normal number via their laptop without the usual mobile phone charges, or the need to carry around VoIP phones. The 2380ip softphone has all the features of a top-quality desktop phone like call forwarding and conference call facilities, and it supports both USB and Bluetooth headsets. Aastra's Thomas Stephan said: "The Aastra 2380ip softphone is the perfect application for small and medium sized businesses who want to manage their calls on a PC or laptop, but who also require ease of use, clarity and access to a wide range of features." A survey by Credant Technologies found that the softphone would be welcomed by many City workers. Amazingly 83 per cent of the 300 questioned said that they will be taking their mobile phone on holiday with them so their office could contact them if necessary.
