Polycom unveils new conference phonesMarket leader Polycom has launched two next-generation conference phones offering High Definition voice quality. The firm has unveiled the SoundStation® IP 7000, which is designed as an upgrade for executive offices, conference rooms and board rooms, and the SoundStation® IP 6000, which is adapted for managerial offices and small to mid-sized conference rooms. Sunil Bhalla, senior vice president and general manager of Polycom's voice communications solutions division, said. "Our customers will reap the benefits of a new level of communication with more productive, engaging conference calls." Nora Freedman, senior analyst of enterprise networks at IDC, added, "Due to the sheer number of conference calls held daily, conference phones are a key segment of any organization's end-point portfolio." The SoundStation IP 7000 will retail at list price starting at $1,299, while the SoundStation IP 6000 will be available from $899. Over 73 per cent of new telephony lines are expected to be IP compatible this year, according to a recent Voice over Internet Protocol survey by Synergy Research.
