Sony introduces VoIP-friendly headsetsJapanese electronics firm Sony has launched a new range of headsets that are compatible with voice over internet protocol (VoIP) calls, according to reports.

Tech Digest says the new range is designed for clear voice transmission and feature Sony's noise-cancelling technology, measures to reduce "sound leakage" and adjustable boom microphones.

Top of the range is the DR-EX230DP, which has in-ear silicon headphones in three sizes, an in-line microphone and travel case. There is also the DR-220DRPV - which has added volume control - and the collapsible DR-G250DP, which is designed for travel use.

A hands-free stereo headset with a detachable USB microphone and volume control unit is also available, along with a basic model, the DR-220DP, which comes in a choice of silver or metallic orange.

According to the blog, prices for the headsets range from 24 euros (£18) to 45 euros.

Sony added VoIP capability to its Playstation2 console in 2004.
