The SIP Forum ratified the recommendation at the Internet Telephony & Conference Expo. According to the chair of the SIP Forum's technical working group, Richard Shockey, the recommendation's adoption will lead to improved sound quality for VoIP and create a basis for the introduction of personalised applications. A number of firms have recently implemented the recommendation through the SIPconnect Compliant Programme, which allows manufacturers, software developers and service providers to achieve SIP Forum accreditation. Firms that have been certified by the forum can display the SIPconnect Compliant logo for their equipment and services.
