US VoIP market 'set for massive growth'A new report out of America has revealed that US National Telecom grew rapidly in 2007 and that the sector looks set to expand further next year. The study highlights how less than one in four medium business customers has so far switched over to large-scale VoIP solutions, leaving a massive gap in the market. Infonetics Research commissioned the report, which found that while nearly all businesses are currently evaluating or planning to expand their VoIP traffic, still just 36 per cent of large companies and 23 per cent of midsize companies have made the transition. According to Infonetics that sets the stage for VoIP telephony to grow at a very rapid pace in the coming years, with the US market alone estimated to be worth some $10 billion (£4.9 billion) by 2010. Recent figures released by industry analysts TeleGeography found that the number of American consumers using VoIP telephony solutions rose from 6.5 million people in 2006 Q2 to 11.8 million in Q2 of this year.
