2007-10-03 | Digium picked for new SMB solution

Digium picked for new SMB solutionSmall and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) have more choice in the VoIP market after Digium provided the technology for a new solution from 3Com.

The new IP PBX offering uses Digium's open source Asterisk program and is targeted at companies with between five and 30 employees.

Features of the hardware include conferencing, voice menus and voicemail, which should ensure that no important calls are missed.

Digium's vice president of product management and marketing, Bill Miller suggested to TMCnet that this development was further evidence that "open source is taking over the SMB world".

The new product announcement follows Digium's buy-out of Switchvox last week, which should boost the usability of the Asterisk software in future, as well as bring some 1,400 extra users to the system.
