T-Mobile working on VoIP service?A wireless broadband router is being developed by T-Mobile in a move which could see VoIP calls switch from the mobile network travel through a home router. VoIP at home has been an expanding market is recent weeks with the launch of femtocells which also switches all calls to VoIP in order to make savings. There have also been practical advances over the last few day which may make VoIP at home more attractive, such as BT giving small businesses the chance to use VoIP without losing their local number. Another useful addition to the structure and regulation of VoIP was Ofcom's demand that the 999 service can be used over all VoIP systems to make sure users can contact the emergency services through the web if necessary. But T-Mobile's home broadband box will feature VoIP routing capabilities which is surprising since the mobile network originally seemed opposed to the ability to bypass its network and chat through VoIP - imposing a phone-wide ban on VoIP provider Truphone until it was overturned in court.
