BroadSoft named top VoIP server provider

VoIP hardware provider BroadSoft has been highlighted as the market leader for voice application servers by research firm IDC.

The company was praised for its BroadWorks platform in an IDC report titled Worldwide Voice Application Servers 2006 Market Share Update.

It found that BroadSoft raked in a quarter of total revenues in the worldwide VoIP server market in 2006 and the author of the report, IDC's programme director of VoIP infrastructure Thomas Valovic, said that the firm had "enjoyed the best success in terms of geographic reach" and by signing up big service providers.

"This recognition by IDC is further evidence that BroadSoft is pulling away from the competition in the quickly expanding applications market," said Michael Tessler, president and chief executive of BroadSoft.

"Everyone at BroadSoft has worked tirelessly to reach and retain our leadership position and it shows in our numbers."

He added that BroadSoft can count five of the top six telecom equipment providers as resellers of its equipment.
