More companies switching to VoIPIncreasing numbers of businesses are turning to installing internet-based voice communications, according to research by Interactive Intelligence. While some 90 per cent of 2,500 companies surveyed, including call centres, said they were not currently using VoIP, some 72 per cent said it was planned for the future. Joseph A Staples, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Interactive Intelligence, said that the results showed that there was "a need for vendors to deliver VoIP solutions using the open Sip (session initiation protocol) standard". However, he warned vendors and businesses that some systems do not conform to these standards, which could mean they cannot cope with newer features.
