Polycom wins VoIP products awardVoIP hardware provider Polycom has been recognised for the quality of its products, as well as its leadership of the industry through its regular innovations. Consulting firm Frost & Sullivan presented the Polycom its annual award for the company that best fulfils the needs of its customers due to the wide range of VoIP products provided by the firm. Sunil Bhalla, senior vice president and general manager of Voice Communications at Polycom, said: "We're honoured by this recognition. Our strategy to build strong relationships with PBX vendors and softswitch manufacturers has helped us secure a strong presence in the small and medium-sized business space." Mr Bhalla said that he believed the company's regular introduction of new features and products, such as its high-definition (HD) voice technology, had helped it stand out against the competition. It is also part of the Polycom's ethos to make sure that, despite adding new technologies, it keeps producing "affordable solutions that are interoperable with most standards-based telecom systems worldwide", Mr Bhalla added. Explaining Frost & Sullivan's decision, the firm's global program director Elka Popova said: "Polycom's broad portfolio of IP telephones has secured it the leading position in the SIP-based desktop phone market." She described the voice communications provided by Polycom as "next-generation telephony" and added: "Going forward, we believe that Polycom will not only be a leading SIP-based end-point vendor and the leader in table-top conferencing solutions; but also, the leader in the voice over wireless LAN market through its strategic acquisition of SpectraLink." The deal between Polycom and SpectraLink was confirmed in February of this year and means that the VoIP product producer now has a presence in both the wired and wireless VoIP sectors.
