Vyke VoIP users get 10,000 new hotspotsFollowing a deal between Vyke and The Cloud Networks, users of the mobile VoIP solution will soon be able to make calls via the WiFi provider's 10,000 or so hotspots across Europe. This will allow them to take advantage of Vyke's low cost VoIP services when they enter the WiFi-enabled zones of cities including Amsterdam, Manchester and both Canary Wharf and the City in London. "Combined with Vyke's mobile VoIP service, The Cloud's wireless network represents a shift in the mobile telecoms paradigm," said Jan Christian Berger, the executive vice-president of sales for Vyke. "Access to city-wide WiFi zones means that Vyke users living or working in these areas will be able to access low cost mobile VoIP communication services at virtually any point during their day-to-day lives." This move by Vyke is an attempt to firm up its position in an increasingly competitive VoIP market by appealing to roaming users who are often hit by high costs when using their mobile phones abroad - something which they can avoid through mobile VoIP.
