Businesses urged to take the VoIP leapDespite the benefits offered by VoIP communications for businesses, some are daunted by the seeming complexity of switching over from fixed line systems. But to ease their transition, XO Communications has released a webcast entitled 'What Every Small and Medium-Sized Business Should Know About VoIP' along with an accompanying white paper. "Many small and medium-sized businesses that are considering VoIP are unsure of how or where to begin the process," said Vince Margiotta, vice president of product management at XO Communications. "These tools are designed to help IT and telecom managers and provide an easy roadmap that can serve as the basis for their decision making process and implementation of VoIP." The webcast and white paper lay out ten steps for decision-makers to follow when evaluating whether they should implement VoIP. These include identifying the needs of both the business and its customers, understanding the capabilities of the current network and choosing a service and company that can fulfil all the business' needs such as office coverage, security, support and consultation.
