Gips launches upgraded corporate softphoneGlobal IP Solutions (Gips) has announced it is releasing a new software programme to make internet calls, otherwise known as a 'softphone', which has upgraded voice and audio quality as well as more advanced features. The Remote Extension 5.0 series incorporates the industry standard iSAC wideband codec into the softphone which should improve the reliability and clarity of audio during calls. In addition, features such as call recording and PC to PC voicemail have had their functionality extended to more hand held phone devices. "Remote Extension is like having your work phone with you anywhere you need it," said Gary Hermansen, president and chief executive of Gips. "Whether on a PC or a mobile device, this latest version of our world class VoIP softphone possesses all the features of an IP-PBX telephone, while delivering the added benefits of mobility and flexibility." Softphone products allow mobile workers to connect to a corporate phone system simply but securely - meaning companies can still send their employees out on the road but retain the security of their business.
