BT tops broadband popularity pollBT is the nation's favourite broadband provider, according to the company, after achieving just over a quarter of the market share. The firm gained 245,000 new customers during the three months to the end of March, bringing their broadband customer base to 3.66 million and regaining the top spot from NTL/Virgin Media. "Customers have shown what they clearly want - innovative products and services offering great value that are easy to use and deliver the exciting opportunities that broadband can provide," said Ian Livingstone, chief executive of BT Retail. Over the course of the last quarter, BT attracted some 32 per cent of new DSL subscribers and 29 per cent of all new broadband customers. The telecoms company also revealed an increase in full year profits of 15 per cent, taking profits to £2.49 billion in what chief executive Ben Verwaayen called "a terrific all round performance".
