snom and Borderware team up on VoIP security

German VoIP phone developer snom has announced that it will form a strategic partnership to combine snom phones with the SIPassure VoIP Security Gateway solution from BorderWare Technologies.

snom said the resultant combination offers a secure and easy to use solution that can be integrated seamlessly into any SIP infrastructure.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr Michael Knieling, marketing and sales director at snom, said: "snom's compatibility with BorderWare's SIPassure VoIP Security Gateway enables us to offer additional security for our phones from the entry-level snom 300 to the newest snom 370.

"Now, we offer the most secure voice-over-IP solution currently available to VoIP telephony providers, ISPs, administrators and VoIP users."

The phone developer snom explains that while SRTP and TLS networks protect against unauthorised listening, PBXs must support this functionality, a feature provided by BorderWare's SIPassure.

"The snom and BorderWare partnership creates the technological and practical requirements for being able to take advantage of the benefits of VoIP without the risks. SIPassure has been designed to be scalable at a low cost for both end user companies and network providers and offers a secure VoIP connection for every user," commented Peter Cox, CTO of International BorderWare.
